Everything about the narrative laid out could describe any other Final Fantasy, I dont feel like Im picking up any kind of distinct vibe.
FF15 was really strong on laying out its road trip vibe, which really gave it something distinct. That "Bros on a road trip" thing was really unique.
This is... I dunno, reminding me of FF13. "The legacy of the crystals wont shape our destiny!"
Also name dropping wars and places in your games first reveal seems kinda awkward, we have no idea what these places are or who these people are. Its totally meaningless.
Nothing about that trailer means anything.
Ive kind of grown tired of Square Enix's latest installments, everything feels extremely overbaked. Im tired of resisting the mothercrystals divine union interference and the eidolon reckoning whatever whatever whatever.
Gimme a cool hook, a mechanic that makes me go "Aight, thats different" and Im in. Something that makes me go "Now thats different"
The road trip aesthetic for 15 was what got me to buy it. Not the plot.
Definitely. Really enjoyed the gameplay, just make the companion AI a little bit smarter for the next game and we are golden. The Whispers are gone, so that weird story element isn't an issue anymore. Great voice acting, great graphics, great materia system, they could make this a 4 or 5 part series I will pay for all of them.
In all honesty, I really wish they would bring back the job system.
We haven't had a good, non-MMO, main line FF game with a job system since FFV. FFVI doesn't count cause the jobs are tied to the characters, same as FFIX. FFXII "tried" it but it didn't allow interchangeability.
Then again, there has only been 2 games with job systems other than FFXI/FFXIV, but I feel like the jobs themselves are the core aspect of the games imo.
It's been too long since we had a real job system in FF.

FFXIII and its sequels had variants of Job Systems, no?

Not really a true job system. They had a generic "buffer/enfeebler/magic melee DD/physical melee DD/magic caster/LOLTANK!" setup. I'm talking about jobs that has specific abilities, such as Time Mage only casting Time Magic, Samurais who wielded katanas, Berserkers who only attacked, Ninjas who cast low-damage magic but had dual wield, those types of jobs.
Have you tried out World of Final Fantasy yet btw? It probably will scratch that itch, though it has some... exceptionally odd moments to be honest, but if you can get past the zany wacky wednesday style plot/characters/writing/voice acting, its kinda fun!
Also, it has Shantotto in it which is awesome to see, as a FFXI player.
The graphics didnt even look any sort of ground breaking. Looks no different from what they put out years ago in FFXIV's trailers. In fact, the synch between mouth animations and voice acting looked kinda off and wrong.
SE needs to spend less money on perfecting their chains, zippers, and belts jingle jangle physics on peoples outfits, and more money on making their character animations look less like mannequins brought to life through dark sorcery and more like... you know... people?

FF15 taught us that not only are graphics not everything, they are actually barely anything. That game gave me sticker shock when I first started playing, and it wore off pretty quickly when I discovered that every other aspect was trash. Except for the fishing, the fishing was great.
Flashing the summons out there seems to be their go to strategy for trailers, I don't even understand how that works, they are rarely if ever used. We don't even know the names of the cast, but because we can spot Phoenix and Ifrit, thats supposed to excite us?
Nah, that's literally what an air purifier looks like, just the no frills version, it really is just an air mover, and a filter. (or ionized blades etc)
Any air pushed through a filter gets filtered. They work, no specific recommendations though.
That would be sweet! I tried using an extension for Chrome but it blocks some things out so I stopped using it.
No promises; I am taking a stab at it this afternoon since I have a little time to kill but not so much that I can get into the guts of anything serious. Mostly just wanted to see how much effort it would really be, and turns out it's a lot. But we'll see!
This is a thread that I found on another website I post at. It can be really really interesting. I thought it deserved a place here.
Post your random thoughts for the day here, or anything else that intrigues you.
For starters, is it possible to give constructive critism to someone who doesn't have a neck? I totally just walked by a girl who didn't. Someone isn't getting a necklace for Valentines day!
And who decided black and white can't be colors? I want to say a racist. I really do.
