Why is it I find the green lanterns so much more interesting than anyone else from DC?
the whole green lantern world of rings based on emotions is an interesting concept

Geoff Johns is a great writer and idea/concept guy--much like Grant Morrison, but a little more practical in his reverence to old classic stories, resulting in his ideas remaining relatively untouched after he leaves a property (unlike Morrison.) :p He was a driving force behind the GL revamp, which lead to its recent popularity (it was one of the few books that wasn't changed at all during the "New 52" reboot of the rest of the DCU)--he came up with lots of clever stuff.
His success and popularity as a writer prompted DC to promote him to higher editorial levels, writing big story-arc-events that impacted many titles simultaneously. He'd later go on to work on their other projects as a consultant, from the animated movies to the live action films, to the new ('Arrowverse') television series. So to be honest, a lot of the current popularity of DCU properties (and a few flops, too...like that Green Lantern movie with Ryan Reynolds lol) can be tied to him. :)
