I learned recently that listening to the right music for enough time can have a really profound effect on a person's mental state.
For instance, I was really tired earlier, then I put on a playlist of a few very specific tracks, and now it's like I'm just incredibly amped-- like I could lift a car over my head and smash it into pieces with my will alone. All of my senses feel extremely heightened-- like some kind of hyper empathy or hyper awareness. It feels as though there is some massive entity of energy that my body can barely contain. It's very hard to fully describe, but I feel incredibly strong-- there is even a feeling in my mouth-- as if my teeth have become larger and sharper.
It is as if a natural "fight or flight" sensation has been activated, and it leaning very heavily towards "fight."
I'd share my playlist, but I already know that most people would find it incredibly underwhelming. I believe there is something about music-- there is more to it than whether or not we like or dislike it, or what our tastes are. The measure of how much you appreciate your music is defined by how much resonates with your inner-most core-- what more spiritual people might call your "soul." That is something that varies tremendously from person to person. I now understand the real significance of having a bard.
That being said, I encourage everyone to seek out as much music as you can that effects you in this way.
