So I'm sitting here in my hotel room today. I'm a bit beat from all the hustle and bustle/long sequences of travel/movement the past few days. That, and yesterday I was pretty beat while walking around Akihabara, so I stopped in at this Maid Massage parlor. They offered various types of massages, and I saw an option for face + shoulder massage. My shoulders have been aching due to my overweight backpack, so I got 30 minutes of that. What I didn't really pay attention to, until it happened, was the facial massage...
I don't get why that's a thing. Maybe for people with abnormally muscular faces? idk. Either way, the maid draped a thin towel over my face, and then started pressing my face in various ways really hard with the tips of her fingers. It was painful but bearable... until she got to my temples, neck, and ears. When she pressed in on my temples, I almost had a fight or flight response. I literally thought she was gonna crush them in, it hurt so bad, she pressed so hard. Then she takes me by the chin, says relax, and pulls my head up stretching my neck until there was a pop. It was very hard to relax for, because again, it felt like she was trying to kill me. With my ears, she cupped them and twisted them. That was mildly painful in and of itself, but she took a firmer grasp, and started to twist them so hard that I could feel my inner ear moving. It was excruciating. I had to tell her to stop. I'm glad the shoulder massage was the second massage, because if the face one had been saved for last, I would have walked out of there in quit a bit of pain. My right ear is all achy and painful today.
Also, I'm unsure of what I want to do with my remaining days. I'm leaving for realies this time, on the 18th. My reservation at the Eorzean Cafe is on the 16th, so that's gonna be another Akihabara day. I kind of want to go to Roppongi and see Luida's Bar, and maybe some other things, but then again... ehhhhhh. Anyone know some cool places to go in Tokyo or near Tokyo? I've been to the Tokyo National Museum, Tokyo Tower, the Skytree, Akihabara, Shinjuku, and Ginza. I'm sure I didn't see everything those places have to offer though. Anyone got any specific ideas?
