Nah Josi, Quebec (the Seperatist Government) crushes hardcore on France, and France is like "NO!"
I found that bit amusing cause yeah most people from france that I worked with didn't really hang out with quebecois. Very much a one way street there on the love.
I had one coworker from france that would always correct my french when I was just starting out learning, because he felt it was in my best interest to try hard to speak only refined 'parisian french'.
"Parisian French is the best French in the Land!"
My Junior high French teacher spoke Parisian as she simply detested the Quebecois French and how it really butchered something beautiful.
Don't get me wrong, the French love the people of Quebec, and many of the Franco-Canadian artists, but it's the politicians they despise that represent the people (even though they don't really represent the people)
The Quebec government has been trying to separate from Canada for around 30-40+ years. But they also want to retain all the visible rights of Canada, including it's currency and federal assistance and equalization payments. The people wish to remain Canadian.
The Canadian Government, decided to compromise, and offer Quebec "A Nation within a Nation" Status, which allows it to enact many of it's own laws - some of those laws have equal power to federal laws, or trump it. Such as the Language laws - Canada can not impose a Dual Language law in Quebec.
