<(O.o)> Well the desktop isn't really for gaming but it's an older Dual core HP. It was given to me but when I checked the processor, it's just a 1.8Ghz....
I was just wondering about a video card but really it's not for anything big. Will probably just use on-board stuff for my purposes.

What's the max the mobo supports? pcie 2.0?
HP consumer or business, if the latter, which model?
It's a HP RP5700. Looks like it's been sitting in a corner for sometime..
240 watt power. It was just given to me but I'm probably just going to turn it into a Linux box anyway. I really don't have money to just throw it something I am not going to be using anyway.
That's a PC sold for use on POS systems, I've used a similar business model box for years as a desktop, their dual video card should work fine in it.
One of these nvidia Quadro 295's would suit you just fine, and I'm sure there's linux support for it, as it's a very common business card.

I think that one was a dual-dvi one (probably need the adapter to either dual dvi's or vga), they have a dual displayport one, I'm sure they're cheaper in bulk at this point, people selling them in favor of the newer models.
Yeah, it works great, I wouldn't try to play games on it though, although it probably would handle some old school stuff.
I used a similar HP 7900SFF for about a year to do work on, took everything I threw at it, short of it didn't support the technology to run a 64bit virtual machine (ran a 64bit native OS just fine), not sure if that model does though, maybe.
Honestly I could get one and an adapter for free, they're in storage and being phased out as the computers support display port as a secondary output on the integrated card, and the newer monitors are coming in with a display port input and cable.
