Also, if you think we're arguing with you then you're mistaken. No one here is, we're just talking.

I don't think anyone here is attacking you, either...if anything, people are trying to be supportive and understanding no? I think you just might be a bit emotionally worked-up over this all.

I wouldn't say that it's defended, there is a small portion members who participate in P&R threads. The majority of forum users who post participate in game threads, social theads, funny threads, etc. P&R is closer to the bottom I'd imagine and is where most of the drama is locate, gaming threads being second or close to it.
Yep, I agree what goes on there is repulsive, sickening, and offencive. But those who are not ill do not need a doctor do they?

If my thoughts are unwelcome then don't make a thread asking our thoughts
Lets back up a bit before this gets out of hand.

I, nor anyone else, said that you could not post your thoughts in this thread. Some of us did offer suggestions towards your thoughts since you appeared to be distressed by what happened to you in another thread.

Other than that, I'll leave the discussion alone as I have a feeling I'll only make it worse if I try to move it anywhere else.

Yes the attacking I keep talking about is in reference to other threads, hence why I am posting here, not there...

no regerts, my neck actually hasn't been giving me issues as long as I tilt it a bit up so I can just look at it better.

So I made a deal with my little brother that if he could finish three of my favorite games of all time, I would build him a new PC.
He already jumped on the opportunity and is nearly finished with the first game already only a few weeks after the proposition, and he has until June to finish. However, to buy more time and to help solidify his sake of earning such a prize, I'm going to make a (multiple choice) test that requires him to do some research and studying over the months over the proper curriculum.

Maybe Mag can help me bring out my inner teacher and make subjects like transistors, frequencies, cores, TDP, double-data-rate, data caching, serial advanced technology attachment, and peripheral component interconnect in more of a ELI5 fashion so it's not painfully sadistic for an eleven year old.

I'm a conservative, but I don't persicute anyone.
Yet many get pissed off when I speak of truth, hope, or love... They tell me I'm unrealistic and to accept this world of filth. Well I REFUSE AND REJECT THIS WORLD OF FILTH. I will not accept this new world order. This new way of thinking. It's all poison.
The world is dying and lost hope and fallen into darkness and dispair. The inhabitants hate the truth and hate freedom and believe the lie in their so called freedom to live like the animals do. Animals do not even do such things that humans do. We as a species have fallen to less than an animal.
Oh look, there's a thread for that.

As an EE, even I find it somewhat painful. Learning about the concepts and and mechanisms behind semiconductors and transistors was far more rewarding than the different specs for processors/boards/peripherals.

Yeah, I hope to present the fundamentals bits of knowledge within the basic parts of a functioning PC so he at least has an understanding of what he is working with and what he can do with it later without having to call me up and bug me every time he installs something stupid.

Definitely keeping things as simple and fundamental as possible so he won't have to groan going over and remembering chipset standards and BS like that.

Kids, especially 11 year olds, like games, as cliché as that might sound. All you have to do is make it fun and interesting for him, and he'll be more engaged. I wish I could tell you how to do that, but that's something I'm struggling with, right now. I'm teaching Hamlet, and they all whine about the same thing, "It's boring! I don't see why we should be reading Hamlet!" I'm doing everything to make it fun that I can, but I can't help but remind myself that I'm not exactly a 15 year old, anymore.

I dunno, I guess I'm not much help. Maybe I'm a little salty over the fact that I can't get my students to buy-in to me or my subject, right now. All's I'm saying is, try to make a game out of it. Like, see how fast he can connect the what'sit to the whoseamajigger and time it, or something along those lines. Make it competitive and fun.

Well, unfortunately studying for this "test" and the test in of itself by no means will ever objectively come down to being fun. It's simply a hurdle he has to pass to receive his reward. I'd like to think that a personally built PC would be enough incentive, but I'll try and keep incentives as a key component to motivate his comprehensive studying and overall "test score" to determine whether or not he can respect what he's earning.
