I think Arte blew out the pump motor changing its speed.

I'm inclined to agree. But nevertheless, Corsair is awesome and decided it was okay to send it back to em for a fixed/new one. Until then I'll be using a heatsink. Their very nature enable them to work forever. That is unless I get a bent one lol.

Oh if you put your pump's power on a line controlled by a variable voltage controller, then yeah, that will *** ***up.

Now as for a splitter and current: whichever one will pull more will pull more, but I think we're about to get on a tangent that's talking about something else, so I'll refrain.

I usually hook my fans to the psu directly unless it's the cpu fan of which I plug into the cpu fan header.

I may throw a chassis fan on the power from the chassis fan connector here and there if I need to, but it usually doesn't have the control pin, so I've never had to worry with that. But yeah a pump needs constant voltage, can't adjust it, but controlling the knobs shouldn't have done that, only fiddling in the bios, but again: without pics, it's hard to say how you have it hooked up, but if you had the pump connected to the pot for the front knobs, then yeah, woops.

I felt my input was valuable since I use a closed loop cooler personally (Corsair H110)

Bart and I hang out elsewheres cuz of course we do.

I'm a bit lost. The H100i's pump has two inputs for a y-adapter to take in two 3-pin fans. I have the radiator fans hooked into one, and previously had two exhaust fans hooked into the other. I'm assuming the SATA power cord and 3-pin from the pump itself is for PWM regulation and power (duh). Is my fiddling with my exhaust fan's built in controller linked to blowing out the pump's control or voltage?

Also I opted for water cooling in the first place because Las Vegas' ambient air temperatures tend to be unforgiving unless you blast your home with constant AC.

If the exhaust fans were pulling power from the pump's line, and you jacked them up a bit too high, it could have caused it to draw too much, but it shouldn't let you pull that much unless your PSU is underrated.

But like I said, I'm not getting a great image here, one moment...

I see this picture:

which looks like a usb header to connect to the mainboard for the software, and the other for power, and connected to the side is two big 'ol calbes for the big *** exhaust fan?

I see one splitter cable, which looks like connects to the mainboard?

Hmm, I may get one of these bad boys down the road, to see if it cuts back on some case dust.

Well, there's actually two splitters included, which attach to the top end of the pump which isn't shown in those pics. Also yes, the USB header is for the Corsair Link software to make changes from there. Strangely there's nothing to plug into that port next to the mini-USB header there, the power comes from a cord directly connected to the pump and is powered by a SATA cord.

I see, and odd.

Hmm, if it's hooked up as you described I don't see what you could have done to screw it up, sounds like it may have been a defective unit, where when you adjusted the pots it went blargh.

As if you had it plugged into the sata for power and the cpu_fan1 for the computer to not ***/temp, the pots shouldn't only adjust the stuff connected to the thing via the provided cables, and if you didn't split it further, you should be fine.

Yeah, I'll talk to Corsair friday to see if I can troubleshoot or at least pin point the catalyst.

As much as I need a new chair, I wanna get a new monitor. Still debating if I should get a super fast TN panel from BenQ or a nice IPS panel for bright and accurate color reproduction.

Now I'm even more conflicted. I want bright and gorgeous colors to pop out and be the priest to bring my brain and eyes in holy matrimony, but at the same time I want to experience the bliss and glory that is going beyond 60 FPS...

copying all my shows locally, compressing them and then moving them to a nas drive so I can wipe my server...

This may take awhile.

edit: only 52 shows (well more, as I put all the Gundam shows under one folder, same with Tenchi, etc).

But still, compressing them will take some time, but this external doesn't like path names beyond a certain length and I already tried just copying everything and it bitched, I can't think of another way to preserve it without doing some editing and I'm lazy.

edit2: I guess I could just redownload it, but meh. Well on my movies that may not be such a bad idea, as I kinda deleted a lot of my .srt files, which I'd like to reget.

thinking about downgrading my 1440p display to a 1080 120hz gsync one. 1440 is pretty, but it's so difficult to run anything with nice settings at such a high res. even with SLI 780s I can't run recent games at max resolution if I want the fancy options enabled. which I do. so I have to downscale which amkes everything fuzzy and aliased and gross.

problem is, this monitor cost about $500 (it's an ASUS art series IPS), so getting most of that back then buying a gsync for little loss is gonna be difficult.

edit: I tell a lie it cost me $600. price has gone down though

Hey Arte if you're still around; What specs are ya runnin on your pc setup? The past PC questions made me generally curious. :3

I have a mediocre build because money was tight just before I was ready to click the "buy" button. At that point I was already waiting so long that I would have prefered to have my PC with lesser gear than to wait any longer. So I currently have:

Intel i3-4130
Corsair H100i (Broken lol)
MSI Z97I Gaming AC Mini ITX Mobo
8 GB GSkill DDR3-1600 RAM
120 GB Samsung 840 EVO SSD
3 TB Seagate Barracuda HDD
2GB EVGA GTX 750 Ti
Cooler Master V600 PSU
Corsair 250D Mini ITX Chassis
Asus BD-ROM/DVD-RW/CD-RW
Windows 8.1 64-bit

If it weren't for Christmas gifts, you better believe I'd be sporting another 4 TB HDD, an i7-4790k and a GTX 970. But I suppose these things can wait.
