So, I was watching some stuff from my teen years, namely South Park clips including Chef's chocolate salty balls. I remember his final appearance and had wondered if there was ever a follow-up within the two years leading up to Isaac Hayes' death and I found out something interesting...

The story was that Chef's final appearance was a jab at Scientology due to a report of Hayes quitting due to the portrayal of Scientologists on South Park. However, in January of 2006 Hayes actually defended the creators' portrayal despite admitting he didn't fully approve of it. It appears the report of him quitting was actually released by someone who wasn't authorized to represent him. The report that later surfaced stated that Hayes never actually quit, it states that in January of 2006 Hayes had a stroke and was being closely watched and deemed unfit to make important decisions and was thus on hiatus, March 13th, 2006 the report of Hayes' departure was released, on March 22nd, 2006 the 10th season of South Park started and marked Chef's final appearance. August 10th, 2008 Isaac Hayes dies of a major stroke.

Not sure which report I want to believe, both make sense to me.

But the way they removed him was pretty disgraceful. They had him fall to his death, have his remains ripped apart by hungry wild animals and had a nice, long ***before the credits rolled. That doesn't seem like the respectable ending for someone that they still cared about.

I agree. I had always hoped that they'd make amends and he'd return but... As I've learned recently strokes cause irreversible changes, if Hayes' stroke DID have a dramatic effect on him, it could explain why he never returned. Also if someone was representing him falsely, it could've caused a rift between the creators and who they thought was Hayes.

EDIT: You also forgot to add they branded the character as a pedophile.

It's looking up, the medicine had to get out of my system fully and muscles seem to be regaining some strength (essentially my batteries got drained it seems)


I've taken a few meds that gave me some odd side effects, but this one takes the cake... i'm gonna go with either I had an allergic reaction to it, or it had a nasty rare side effect.
