I only used support abilities from red mage, in itself it's pretty weak. Black mage just becomes obsolete when the game gets harder due to mp restraint :/ physical dds become much better.
My favourite perfect team(in endgame) is like this:
Valkyrie/Ninja (almost never take any damage while doing steady damage itself)
Knight/Templar (double shield, just default and rampart to reduce to minimum damage taken by party)
Spiritmaster/White mage (simply best healer; with speed+20% and holy one as support abilities)
last dd spot is less important but I usually prefer Monk/ninja; Pirate is strong but the use of mp is annoying, ranger is limited to specific battles, Dark knight is too dangerous in hard fights...could use another Valkyrie of course, but I like variety.
but I guess it's still soon for you!
So far MP hasn't been an issue, what with infinite ethers.
But yeah, I just unlocked Salve Maker. Recently got Performer and Pirate. Don't much like axes with their lower crit rate, but man do they have a lot of raw power.
Have only 2 shops left to get to level 11 in Norende. Already bought every weapon available so far in the shops.
Right now for my party I'm using: Ranger/Misc. (for examine mainly lol), Whitemage/Timemage, Knight/Thief (my steal), and Redmage/Timemage.
Forget what all abilities I'm using but I know I have Angelic Ward on everyone and Damage Dispersion on my Whitemage and Redmage. My Ranger is using the ability that ups my dmg depending on how many hits land. Knight is using two-handed (haven't really needed a shield for him, he's pretty damn tanky at the moment for the part of the game I'm in.) Oh and my Redmage is using In the Red as well.
Redmage is getting replaced once it doesn't have access to all the spells I currently have. Just found some tier 4 spells from the merchant at Starkfort.
