*** FedEx.... My order was sent to within 60 miles(~1hr) of me (on correct path), and somehow it got *** up and is now over 4hrs away in the opposite direction. Further away than where it started out from.

Now I might not get it today/tomorrow. God damn incompetent ***!

So things got nuts between me and my partner, and at this point he is saying he wants to meet with the professor and request we be separated.

He tried throwing in my face that he is a retired veteran whereas I am not retired, and that warrants him more respect from me.

I am sorry but when I ask you to edit an image before turning in our paper to make it correct and your response is "I was too lazy to do that", you just reset the respect bar at 0.

It came down to the point where he followed me to my car and said something like "We are peers, we should blah blah blah." I turned to him and said that he was not my peer, someone who was my peer would not be "too lazy" to edit an image, someone who was my peer would not hand me the low quality excuse for a powerpoint he turned in.

That's when he lost it and demanded we talk to the professor and get separated.

A 40 year old kid.

Don't you just LOVE group projects where your partner(s) don't care about their grade?

Also, lol @ trying to bring military rank/status into it.

I remember back in the days of doing school work, 1 person did all the work and the rest had fun.

~ Do you guys have like peer review sheets that you turn in with projects to keep team members accountable for work done ~?

Back when I was in school, I just waited till after class and talked to the professor about my situation and disdain for working with the people I usually got paired with. It usually got me removed from the "team" and I got a solo project similar to the original project or just got to do it solo.

Couldn't stand having others keep me from getting an A.

The thing about working with this guy is that he is a straight A student. He is actually trying really hard, but everything he is doing is wrong.

I have a timeline of emails where I ask him to change things, he doesn't, I get more specific, he does nothing still, I get a little irritated and say I will do it myself instead and then HOLY ***he loses his mind with me.

I even met with the professor and said I want to work with him because I know he is trying, what do? Professor suggests splitting the presentation into two sections. I send the idea to partner and he DEMANDS I provide a list of resources which show his information being incorrect etc... sorry no.

But yeah, trying to pull rank with me when we are both PRIOR military. It was so hard to not just say "Your former rank and being retired doesn't mean you aren't a shitty student now!"

Nothing is wrong with being organized when doing projects.
You seem to have it done by setting timetables and having objectives and specifics on when things need to be done.

It's one thing to have things ready by the deadline that was agreed upon and leave gentle reminders on due dates/times on when you/he needs stuff by for work. If he misses those dates/times then its an issue but if you're asking him for it constantly I can see why he may "lose his mind"

Might need to sit down with him or type up a well documented email explaining in detail everything that needs to be done and when due dates for things need to be.

I printed out the email chain and made some notes etc (preparing my case for custody of the project if we do get a partner-divorce).

When Alley Cat gets off work we are going to go pick up some booze, I am going to relax, and maybe do some MS Painting tonight.

COLLEGE IS SO FUN GUYS!

I never pestered him about due dates at all actually. It was simply the content he provided me. He sent me a powerpoint and when I looked at it, he basically ignored our project and wrote up an economics-based presentation about the Taxi service industry... totally unusable.

I gave him an outline to fill out how he wanted, and he ignored it. We then had a meeting in class where when we left I felt really good about things... then I got an email that he "lost his notes driving home", and the next draft of the presentation was still butts.

I want to keep working with him, if for no reason other than the fact that people like him... people who read tech manuals and memorize terminologies but then can't login to a computer... those people are the people I will be working with some day. I want to continue experiencing this in a way I welcome it.

I already know the professor will grade me on what *I* present, so I am not worried about the grading. I just want to try and figure out how to handle this guy.

but like I said, not tonight, tonight I am going to relax!

Well as long as you have documentation for things then you should be good.

If you document X for something and he comes back yelling about Y's then you can show him that stuff and be like "hey this is what we agreed upon etc etc"

~This reminds me of one of the customer's i'm working with. She's going to give me aneurysm i swear. She complains about all these things and I come back and I tell her its done but she doesn't believe me and tries to change the topic etc etc. Basically I'm documenting everything to cover my *** so she can't get pissed about something that wasn't agreed upon.

(And this lady thinks that internet explorer 8 is the ***)
