For whatever reason it happens, it's neither person that's really a bad guy unless they are just tormenting the other. It just seems like a mistake to not be upfront. It also seems like a mistake to instantly meet someone and assume right off the bat that you will be dating in a few months. Though I can't say much...

The worst is when having a boyfriend isn't enough for them to back down. I'm sure guys feel the same when it happens to them. Makes you feel like an *** having to remind them it's not going to happen. x.o "I've been friendzoned, haven't I?" Really dude? .-.

People aren't good at communicating naturally. I don't think many families emphasize that/have that in being brought up. I know I certainly wasn't taught to communicate well.

It's an important aspect in friendships and relationships. Particularly in the instance of you feeling something, and maybe the other doesn't. Dealing with men personally from college, I've had to be very upfront once that behavior is shown or friends have told me "I have a crush on you." It's hard to communicate, but "friendzoning" doesn't have to be harsh.

Besides, I've never made a habit of keeping friends that get hurt over friendzoning or expecting anything unrealistic of me. I tend to keep a small friend base anyway and don't put up with such selfish shenanigans.

The only thing I've had friends *** about to me is when girls perceive their kindness as flirtation. A lot of my guy friends feel like they can't even be NICE to women because women have a tendency (for good reason) to suspect niceness = seduction.

Oh, done that. Saying someone is an acquaintance rather than a friend apparently causes a lot of harsh feelings. I don't know though, maybe it's cause I put too much value in the definition of friend itself that I don't like using it the way it is in social networks.
