They'll never be exact versions of it, once you accept that, it'll go smoother :3 and of course book > tv, but imo they doing a pretty damn good job! I just hate that they keep calling it "Game of Thrones" and if you ask in a bookstore "A song of ice and fire" nobody knows anything until you mention "game of thrones", then they are like oh ok, right here!
Well, two episodes in and I must say, for a show bases on the books, it is much better then I thought it would be. At the very least it stays true to the raw brutishness and violence of the books, not like that pg movie they made from the Hunger Games.
I just started season 1, episode 1 and screamed, "That wasn't how it was in the book!" in the first 10 seconds. *table flip*
actually I thought season 1 was almost an exact copy of the book. They added an extra character or two...like the *** Ros which I've read is going to be used as a way to merge a couple characters together. They also changed a couple character names because they sounded similar to other names. Some extra scenes I could live without would be alot of the smexing..its hard to hear what littlefinger is talking about when he's standing in the middle of inappropriate hoes. And then lolRenlyandLoras.
then again I'm not complaining because on the tv show I don't have to read GRRM describe Danis nipples every few lines. So yeah.
My complaints are extremely minimal, this is the best adaptation(so far anyways) that we could have hoped for. I'm beyond happy at how perfect Tyrion is.
I have no idea why we keep getting scenes with Littlefinger in his brothel. Two episodes into season 2 and he is getting way too much airtime. He does next to nothing in the second book so it would go without saying that we shouldn't even care about him in season 2. More relevant characters should get those scenes
That part caught me off guard, was that in the book too? How did I miss something like that?
I asked the same thing. They make references in the book..think it was Jaime who told Loras He'd shove his sword up so deep someplace Renly never found..or something like that.
But it was never blatant.
Also I don't mid the littlefinger airtime. They're going to give Jaime more too even though he wasn't really in the book either.
Also know that Grrm helps with the tv show and writes for it.
I just love being able to recognize a scene from the books..although for some reason it cracks me up thinking about how much work the writers have to do to think and plan ahead. For example, the Tyrion-find-the-snitch trick dealio for example...obviously the book has 23423423 more characters in it than the tv show so the show has to make due without confusing the audience...but Myrcella marriage to Theon? I lol'd. Also, Shae as Sansas lady-in-waiting...I also lol'd.
Love the new not-in-book scenes too although the Shae/Sansa scene was kind of strange.
Love Sansa though, she looked so pretty.
Also, BRIEEEEENNEEEE..omg I'm so excited.
Also Also, more Gendry! ahhhhh
Also Also Also, I was so pissed at Theon in the books for forever..this show is making me feel so very sorry for him though.
edit: I HAVE SO MANY FANGIRL FEELINGS ABOUT THIS RIGHT NOW!
Im in the middle of Clash on Kings right now. Game of Thrones was on german TV few weeks ago /very pleased
They show the whole book 1 season within 3 nights on free Tv, wich was awesome.
If only i play less i could read more...
I hated GoT at first because I felt it was just blatant fanservice with all the sex. Not that I have anything against sex scenes, but it seems that every episode there's someone doing someone else haha.
I've come to appreciate the story and characters though, and I'm completely up to date with the series. Tyrion is in my opinion the best character, though I like Jon Snow and Arya too. Hate Joffrey, glad I already know his fate from the book. Also can't stand the incest queen and the one with her bratty kid at her boob...
Anyone feel as if Season 2 is moving incredibly fast? Episode 6 already and we haven't even seen Jojen or Meera Reed, yet Theon has taken over Winterfell.
I think the pace is moving fine. I love alot of the changes and new additions.
I know book people are freaking out but I don't see the Reeds as that important...Osha can easily take over their roles. I doubt they'll show up. The only interesting thing about Bran chapters was when Theon showed up. I didn't read any further than AsoS but blah..Bran chapters were so boring.

Best episode ever deserves ALL the memes...just ALL of them :<
Is anyone else incredibly psyched for this? The novels are fantastic, and with Martin being one of the writers on this series, I have high hopes. Hopefully "A Dance with Dragons" is published soon, too.
