Unlike everyone else, I know what crits do and don't do for you. And crits on RNG aren't as great as they are on a melee job.

Yeah, that's why RNGs get dead aim which improves critical damage. I could be wrong though I suck at math, but the damage is very noticeable when you don't crit jishnu

Anything besides Khepri gear/99 bow I'm not seeing?
Karacule leggings+1 and Aias Bonnet/ Cuauhuitl headpiece+1 will most likely give you better damage output.

Kacura +1 are worse than thaumas almost always. Aias would depend on my dDEX and target level. And since I would never use RNG on fodder mob, thaumas would be better anytime I'm on RNG.

fSTR and ranged attack are always important stats for RNG WS.

Thats kinda like saying "Air is always important to breathing" lol

Was more asking the comparison of STRvsDEX in terms of damage output. Or on that note, a hierarchy of stat+'s since SE decided DEX was a GREEEAAT idea for a base stat on a WS....

For record, this is my current set (which I'm fully aware is far from optimal, I can't control droprates lol)

Haidate have Crit Damage +3%

STR is roughly equivalent to 60% WS mod, meaning it's about the same as DEX for JR. Obviously that's not going to be true if fSTR2 is capped, and it will vary based on how many attack buffs you have (the more the better).

and upgrade a gun.

id recommend a pyrosoul instead of thundersoul, str earrings, change lgs to emp+2 for the flat crit rate+3(and all its other goody stats), i try to use athos' glvoes + feet when its proper day for the gloves, otherwise i use a seiryu's kote+ scouts sock+2 combo, i use a tessera for body, but id say loki/toci's are fine before that, maybe change to that new aluh jambiya dagger? personnaly im still using a carabineer when im /war+jr'ing, but i think aluh is hailed to be better. upgrade to gargoulle arrows (might just be an old set you updated :p) those recommendations are based off of what im using and i am beyond pleased with its performance, bear in mind i eat nothing but meat and always sub war! there are still some further upgrades you can make, like head from aias<cauhtl +1<thaumaus.

Actually I just upgraded to ruszor from antlion since prices roughly equalized on Sylph. Garg.'s are 2.5x the price.

I should also probably say that my Gandiva is lv90 vers, and I pretty much only RNG for voidwatch anymore, so I'm usually popping champion's preJR for critrate from potency (assuming this does sh*t for JR) which gets me ~2600-3000 on average vs Qilin (most common fight I do).

So based on what I'm seeing here one swap I could easily make w/ gears I already have, I should swap Athos hands/feet for my Sylvan+2/Scouts+2?

Edit: Yes, Oneiros is +10% and everything I've ever read on it says it's practically even to very-slightly better then Aluh for JR.

Tp set

Ws set
Anwig with +2ws damage and +2 crit
Haidaite with + crit damage

I have literally no budget restrictions on my gandiva build but i find it hard to reach a perfect setup, this is my current build as per advice from this thread i am working on athos body and gloves and intend to finish the build up with another jupiters peal a dex ring and light gorget.

any tips to help me squeeze the most from this weponskill would be most apreciated.

i should add iusually use it in voidwatch and am usually /sam for stp meditate and sekkanokki

Ooo ooo, i can actually answer this one to some degree:

Obvious swaps: Light Gorget + put the staff away for a Aluh/Oneiros and /war. Fencer and Berserk are gonna do a lot more for your damage than Hasso can.

For inside abyssea should swap in athos body and anwig head.

For outside abyssea should swap in thaumus head.

Other than that, I'm really liking the set.

it is my set in progress. I am only missing the body/hands/shield at the moment, I have all of the pieces but that. I try to do Provenance Watcher shouts whenever I have the chance

@Curty - I hadn't thought about using my Thaumas head as a part of the WS set, that's a good idea.

with no shield skill, why bother worrying over the shield? last i read, a shield isnt needed for Fencer. and until i get Thaumus gear, is Scout Socks+2 the best JR feet atm?

I'd guess for the enmity -, unless there is a reason not to put a shield there it's better then a slot not contributing.

The main reason for the shield is the enmity -. One of my LS mates uses the shield in VW with his Annihilator when he does Last Stand, thought it would be good too for a WS like Jishnu's Radiance in which lots of Rangers tend to pull hate with. There is another shield that Matix uses on his Ranger, think either or is good for the Sub slot.

I don't. Crit rate on jishnu's is already weak compared to melee hits to begin with.

If I'm fighting a level 120 mob with 120 VIT/AGI and 540 defense, my set puts me at 972 ranged attack with food, yours has 938, berserk and 35% chaos roll. Food is red curry.

My set:

STR: 164
DEX: 152

fSTR: 24
cRatio: 1.275 after level correction
crit cRatio: 1.59375
dDex: 9
total crit rate: 33%
crit damage: 7%

((117+51+24+77)*5.85)*1.275 = 2006
((117+51+24+77)*5.85)*1.59375 = 2508, 2508*1.07 = 2683

2006*.67 = 1344
2683*.33 = 885

1344+885 = 2229

your set:

STR: 170
DEX: 155

fSTR: 27
cRatio: 1.212037037 after level correction
crit cRatio: 1.515046296
dDex: 9
total crit rate: 31%
crit damage: 7%

((117+51+27+77)*5.85)*1.212037037 = 1942
((117+51+27+77)*5.85)*1.515046296 = 2428, 2428*1.07 = 2597

1942*.69 = 1339
2597*.31 = 805

1339+805 = 2144
