i think when i get on today im gonna read through books and then store them in my home, and im gonna sell the gemstones i have.

oh, and a question. how does one charge soul gems?

There's a conjuration spell, called Soul Trap, you cast it once and defeat your foe within 60 seconds and if you have an empty gem on you it will be filled. For larger gems you will need to fight greater enemies. For petty gems normal mobs will suffice.

Anyone know what deer hides are used for?

I thought they'd be used to make leather, but I guess they're not, they're not an option when I go to the leather thing.

@Iro, you can buy the tome in Solitude, I just bought it a few hours ago.. Actually I bought pretty much everything she had, was like 4-6k worth the tomes.

I'm definitely doing a full on mage next, The Flame Atronach is pretty bad ***, would be a lot better if my magic wasn't so weak.

Anyone have tips or tricks to finding ore deposits? I found a couple while I was just roaming around, but now that I'm actively looking for them, it seems I never find one.

Hey Slip not really sure how to put a spoiler tag on things but its only an ore deposit so its not a big deal, I found an ore deposit on top of the plateaus around Ysgramor's Tomb just a short way ish SW of the tomb.

You might need to do a bit of exploring to find it my descriptions not great lol but its a fun place to run around and snow bears are worth 4 leather if youre still skilling up smithing :-)

I got smithing to 100 in half a day. I've mined maybe two patches in all that time.

Oh, I kinda figured it'd be like FFXI, where you can't skill up very well or at all on lower level shite once you're past like, Smithing 30 or so.

k, murdering a ton of deer, etc.

2 exploits I've found so far:

1. Find a room with an enemy in it, sneak, auto-run into a corner. You can afk for a few hours and get 100 sneak skill.

2. Probably not repeatable, but I was fighting a dragon which decided to perch on top of one of those altars where you learn shouts. He glitched and completely froze, and also would not die. I was able to hit him with anything and still gain skill from it. Later, after finishing several quests and fast-traveling to a city, the dragon's corpse teleported into the sky above me and fell down.

No, might be a glitch, but you skill up heavily from the easiest recipies.

Yeah I checked my inv. I think I have like 30lbs in potions or more, 20-30 in food and another 20-30 weapons and the rest armor. So I'll have to just keep the health/stamina/magick potions.

As far as smithing/crafting goes how does that work? I've synthed some potions and that was about it.

I can see why someone would want to do this on console maybe, but on PC it would pretty much be pointless as you can console anything. I will not let myself cheat at all.. I did it in Oblivion and it's a slippery slope it goes from 'just this once' to 'almost outta health potions ~consoles 100 into inv.~ and it just completely ruined Oblivion for me.

I don't see how that tutorial should be any different than the one in riverwood. I just pointed out riverwood, because it's the "starting place".

Anyone get reliable info on how many perk points are available to a normal player? (without using console cheats)

I heard around 70 with maxing out all skills but not sure if more are available through quests or what not. I see others on message boards throwing out numbers like "93 total" but the source of the info was never apparent.

As far as I know 75 is the max level you can get in Skyrim.. So far I've seen nothing that gives you a free perk point and so far every level (I just hit 20) only gives 1.. So I'd assume it's 75.

I don't like what this game is doing to me :x

I have to force myself to stop playing and go to bed before I end up sitting up all night playing it and screwing up my sleeping schedule.

Funny fact: Dragonbone smithing requires level 100 and has less stats than the daedric set, which requires 90 smithing.

Is it Light Armor? Looks to me like the light armor equivalent of Daedric Armor unless you can craft light and heavy for both. I'm not that far into smithing yet.
