An issue wherein terrain in Abyssea areas could be exploited to battle enemies without taking damage has been resolved.

I assume this means no more successful pinning.

It's not an issue its common sense.

When you were little and you were a bad kid and your dad was chasing you because you were going to get a beat down

Isn't it common sense to pin him with say the dining room table lol.

he goes left, you go right! He goes Right you go left!!!
profit!

Yeah I'm guessing no more cliff pinning. It was becoming too commonly used, so they put a stop to it.

Skar it wasn't an issue of pinning and moving to make it work. You could literally pin the monster in place and not have to move and inch. It would not hit you.

I am waiting to test this. Pinning is using the poor AI to force a monster to take unusual paths to get to you which would need alot of re-work to change the AI

There was also a secondary issue where players (usually backline jobs) could stand on higher/lower ground and take 0 damage from any aoe effects or take extreeeemly long routes to you)

Personally, i'm hoping it's just the latter ^^

I assumed that monster's tp moves like executioner and amhuluk have would hit people now, not that you wouldn't be able to pin anymore.

I'm really hoping this doesn't mess up a lot of easy soloable NMs or just make it longer to solo.

Not really. This refers to SE adjusting mobs so that players can no longer trip up the Ironclads using cliffs. When this was done right, the Ironclads were pretty much unable to damage and defeat players.

SE doesn't seem to have a problem with players using the terrain to their advantage, but they draw the line when terrain makes players invulnerable such was the case with Ironclads. If you can AFK for 5-10 minutes without dying, it's a problem.

Pinning as a general approach to a fight is still fine. Unlike the Ironclads, other pinned mobs will be able to reach and kill the player(s) if the player(s) stop moving and stop actively trying to keep the mob pinned.

Using terrain to avoid AoEs is also fine as all the engaged players are at risk of death. Players have been doing this for years without complaint from SE. If Dynamis Lord wipes out a pack of DDs, he will walk/warp up to the cliffs and kill all the mages. If Amhuluk (or any of the other Abyssea NMs that are fought like Amhuluk) kills the DD and/or tank that's engaged to it, he will walk to the ramp, walk up the ramp, and walk over to kill the mages.

Yeh i dont understand why SE dont like us using terrain to our advantage... I mean, you would do it in real life. Regardless of its giving you an edge in a video game.

Ovni can be easily solo'd without pinning... The only possible issue is if he gets off a boosted tp move. At level 90 it'll be even easier.

Agree with that. You could solo Ovni as RDM/NIN straight tanking.
