FF XIV Reviews

Enternius said: Bismarck.Naeo said: Enternius said: Intended release was March of next year, until then, I honestly think it's too soon to post any actual reviews of it. they released it in Sept. which means someone in the higher ups thought it was ready for review. To release a product and not expect it to get reviewed is like saying you dont expect to get frostbite walking outside barefoot in a blizzard. Square opened this Pandora's box, and quite frankly i'm glad their getting their financial *** handed to them, maybe now they'll realize they need to remember content matters more than graphics. Honestly, i'd rather they pull the game, and offer those of us that have bought it another free month in march, when they reopen servers and go back to Alpha/Beta testing, which is where the game should be at in this point in time. I agree with everything you said, I'm just saying from my personal opinion, I'm not considering the game "complete" until March. I'm thinking of it like a skyscraper that's under construction. While the plans may say "60 stories", the first 10 or so will get done first. The main foundation will be done. There's just a lot more work for it to be completed. If that makes any sense. No it doesn't make sense.
"Hey guys let's make a 60 story condo it'll be amazing"
"Ok we've built the first 10 floors"
"Let's sell some units here in these 10 floors and let people move in"
"But uh we still have to build the other 50 floors above it and theres no roof or plumbing or electricity"
"People could die"
"It's ok we'll shush the press about our progress, and anyone related in the real estate industry so it'll get a raving review in 1-2 years"
"What about the people living in the first 10 floors...with no roof..no plumbing ..no electricity..and hazardous construction environment? *** em they already moved in and payed"
Seriously wtf.

Seriously wtf. Please point to the part where I said people were going to live on a construction site.

You want it released, but you dont want it reviewed. =
Opening a 1/10, 1/4, w/e finished building for public use w/o "review"

I wasn't referring to people playing the game, and I'm not referring to 300,000 people all in this one building at once. I was referring to the state that it's completed in.
If I used maybe a single-story condominium as a reference, then that part would make sense but I wasn't going for the "public" aspect. Just the fact that the game's framework is laid out but lacking a lot of content.

It's more like they're showing the first 10 floors, and trying to find buyers, when there's no roof, no plumming, and the drywall's still showing inside.
It's asking for money on an unfinished product that while it will eventually get to where it needs to be for the sales to actually come in, it's going to leave a bad taste in the mouths of those that check it out / hear about it.
your example was a bit farfetched, Salv.

Seriously wtf. So it's ok to releasa new gear and new content/level cap in wow or ffxi years after release but its not ok to do so in ffxiv? Look at ffxi. What did it have at start ? Not even zilart, there was nothing to basically beside grinding exp and missions.

I just checked Jp button JP button about the sate of FFXI at its release :
* level cap 50
* no NMs, they were introduced 1 month after release
* no AH, released also one month after release. No player had reached level 50 yet apparently.
So obviously not much do do : grinding exp (level 50), missions (assuming up to rank 4, so not really much), crafting and the useless city quests. There was no guildleves type mini games either so yeah, 90% was exp grind.

But again:
1) That was 2002. Times were different.
2) Just because FFXI had these flaws doesn't excuse FFXIV for them. They should've known by now that people would want more content at launch, especially stuff that's readily available in a sea of MMOs that didn't exist back when XI was released.
What kind of "more content" do you want ? Aren't you supposed to max your level before hands anyway (be it melee, mage, craft, gathering) ? I don't think FFXIV should be a marketting product that you would chose over other MMO (95% of which are garbage, like non - MMO), play 1 month and then basta. This would totally make the game suck if anyone and their sister could enter engame at level 10 (like those idiots a gamespot). It's almost as if people are pissed because grinding exp is long and boring. Yes it is, in all games, even non - MMO.

People are going to *** about anything Pchan, you have to come to expect it. Apparently people Andevom have been made HELP I AM TRAPPED IN 2006 PLEASE SEND A TIME MACHINE by Abbysea EXP parties. Because I know back in the day it took a shitload of time to get 1-75, but now you can get the exp from 75-85 in about 10 hours of work. Hell if you suck the party leaders *** hard enough you can just keywhore a job to 85 and be worthless. But that's how MMO's should be! Right right? When I see the majority of players in FFXIV with 1 job at 50 combat I'll start demanding more content. Until then people should stop bitching about the content they wouldn't even be able to access.

Yet at the same time if my friends are all on we can go grind out good exp on crabs and what not. Tbh I love the solo and party option.

Not that it matters, except to keep an eye on the competition, as it were. But WoW announced a few days ago that they have snapped up another 3M players and recovered those they lost during the disagreement with China.
They are now at 12 million active users.

If you enjoy noob tubing and camping in corners and rocket launchers in MW2, you would like TF2. Same for WoW. If you like doing nothing for undeserved, overpowered rewards, you'd like WoW.

gotta play them online games that require a bit more skill i like a challenge. too easy = (No thanks) What about people who use teh at-4 and noob tube to on the run to take out enemies from large distances? I play with them for lulz because i honestly dont care to try in mw2 anymore. But I in no way sit in corners and wait for with them. I typically use the explosive class as counter camping. Also ent i find tf2 bleh same with halo. Unrealistic shooters aren't fun to me. btw look into MoH played the beta it's beast.
Post any links to press reviews, etc here.
So far it's getting 1.5 out of 5 stars on JP Amazon.com, after a few hundred reviews, and is already 25% off for both versions.
