Setting Up XIV

Ok 1stly, this isnt for me. I do not own the game nor a computer to run it, which is partially why i have become frustrated enough to post myself.

A friend of mine has received XIV Special Ed for her birthday, which is today. As far as she can tell, she has done all that is required to make a "content ID" (my phrasing, as i do not know the XIV equivilant), making a SE account and what not. She plays XI but never made a SE account for it.

However she gets this message when she goes to make a char "the proper options must be added to ffxiv service acc before a char can be created, return to the login screen and access the square enix account management system and add options".

I cannot help her. I do not know how. I have attempted to by looking on the net, at forums, even in my old XI manual, but to no avail. She is "pissed" cos it is not working, and that the SE help thing is now just mail only, not the direct chat like it used to be. I do not know how to assist her, would anyone here be willing to make a brief but clear step by step set up for her? She reads these forums so i can point her to this thread, and tbh, IF i ever got a PC that could play it (or the ps3 version), I would like to know what to do.

If anyone can help I am sure she, and myself, would be thankful.

I had this type of issue also, more of my own stupidity but w/e.

You need to add the char service.

Go to the Square Enix Account Management site. Log in, etc. - Under Service and Options, Choose Select Service then pick Final Fantasy XIV, Under Active Service Account, It should say Final Fantasy XIV 1 or something. Pick Options list on the side of it. Next screen, on the top should say "Characters" - Add new options, pick new options and choose to make one or however many characters she wants.

Forgive me but, this meaning? Im in msn with her at this time, and a "goto that screen n click that" sentance would be a lot of use atm ^^' She uses but is not a member of this forum, so i posted on her behalf.

Lol i always get asked, mostly by girls, how to do stuff, and im like, /seeks thru internet, um... click this? maybe? XD

Edit 2: she says, shes "done exactly that". Im assuming this isnt working out for her ^^'

Hmm. I'm not quite sure what the problem would be then.

she's missing a step. she needs to add the option to the service account

FFXIV
Options List
Add new options (to the right of character)

Afterwards, she should see it down under 'active options' on that same page.

K shes followed this to the letter and has bought 2 chars now, yet none is playable. Im guessing its POL viewer options? maybe? Not having the game myself really makes this hard to communicate.

Does she have multiple Final Fantasy XIV active service accounts? If so, Make sure she is selecting the correct one.

She says only one, and is like, getting really annoyed :/ Would deleting n starting over help?

And shes like, O.O, "o yea i dint see that" XD....

However she is unsure of how to impliment it. Where to enter it, etc. She already has 2 chars "registerd" remember, should she delete this 2 services? And use this code? Or can she edit current some how?

EDIT: Sucsess! i think. She has 2 chars and its working. I dont know if she needs 2, but it allows 2 before "you have to pay", she says. I am not aware if this is correct XD
