Um... Heya Guys and Gals
I just downloaded the FFXIVsetup and that loaded just fine but when I get trying to load the game to start downloading the patches a/d/or updates it doesn't want to load and get an error message of some sort. Here is what I have for a computer...

The installer is quick, and can be done with the shiitiest of computers. (-mumbles- Like mine for example..) The updating with the Final Fantasy XIV beta version program itself(the 'client') is what people are taking alooooong time to do the update on.

As someone said before I replied: You can start updating it without it being released/closed beta codes. So open the client up and have fun downloading like everyone else ^^;

Yeah i'm all for it being postponed if it means they are clearing up some really bad bugs, guess it gives me time then to download the rest of the client on this shitty piece of garbage.

With the release date coming in 22 days, everything has to be ready to ship in 15 days.

Now this may seem like a long time but they have to
1. put the game on a DVD
2. print the manual
3. put all the goodies into it
4. Beta Key generate and print and make sure there's no two identical ones
5. Package individual boxes
6. package them into a bigger box
7. get UPS/FedEx/USPS/other services ready for ship on x date
8. stay in stock until otherwise noted.

This can take a while especially for an MMO. S-E most likely has all of that done and is making more, since you know, i'm sure they want a good million + users and it all takes time and money.

Release date will stay unless they haven't done any of the post-production stuff yet.

Besides, one online update can fix it.

If you really are complaining about slow downloading, why are you playing FFXI?

Every update is like that plus when you first got the game, how long did you have to wait for that first hueg update?

Think your missing the point, if there are some game breaking critical bugs that need to be resolved before the game hits retail and they don't get that done, then they will have no choice then to postpone release. Been done before on other games SE is no different.

Full reinstall of XI and everything takes 4 hours.

this is one single file that everyone seems to be getting caught on, it's taking 40+ hours for some, how is that similar?

What's this bug anyways?

"game breaking critical bugs" could mean something like you buy an item from a vendor for 100gil and you can sell it to another vendor for 600gil.
