What? You don't like watching the down speed numbers fluctuate and change constantly? It's a constant source of amusement! A different number every time!

I only like to watch when they're bigger, small ones tend to dissapoint and depress me.

thats what she said
lol, beat me to it.

decided to redownload the 4.7gb file again since that seems to be the one everyone is having a problem with. Proper port forwarded and settings optimized for high download rate. i'm gonna keep it up and seed all day.

EDIT: Thats 10min after starting it, so not sure why its not working for everyone else, but hopefully seeding helps.

Are you using a particular port for it? (55### or whatever the client configs to)

***I wish I could get that speed. I'm lucky to see a spike past 100kB/s last for more than 10 seconds.

Mine is finally done, but my internet is not the best so I had a max of about 320kb/sec.

Make sure your firewall is not slowing you down, those unfamiliar with torrents are most likely having this problem. You may need to go into your routers configuration page and open some ports.

Please find said link. :\

Took a look at port forwarding but I'm unwilling to mess with changing over to a static IP etc to get it done. I don't know enough about it and its likely I'll fk something up.

You shouldn't need to set up a static IP to open your ports. Only provide the IP address of the computer you wish to use. You don't have to make it static, it shouldn't change much day to day.

That is only 3.54GB. The patch alone is 4.7GB and there's another 1GB+ patch.

Which update? All of them? If so then that link is useless.

The problem is the 4.7GB update file. That's what is so slow. I'd love to have 100kb speeds on this. I just got up to 80 earlier (though it fluctuates).

Man, I love the details.

I'm downloading it on my laptop instead of the patch torrent anyway. My home computer is finally getting decent speeds on the update. Either way I'll have it done by the time I'm home tomorrow.

Set up port forwarding as instructed in there and there's been no difference. Oh well. :\ Gonna try that RAR download. Even if it isn't complete its still making better progress than my current torrent anyway.

might just have to accept the fact that until people seed, its still gonna be a ***ton of people all hitting up the same sources for a file. Its gonna be slow.

I see no 1gig file people are talking about. All I need was 2 5mb files, 1 9mb file, and the 4.7gig and it goes to the log in screen.

it wont. As long as two ports match up and you aren't using 80 or 8080 (most web browsers HTTP port) then you could use 1-9999

This is why torrenting patch updates is a stupid idea.

at $14 a month they shouldn't have any problem buying dedicated patch servers :/

It's actually a great idea considering the number of people downloading. Just look at FFXI's updates. You can be kicked for congestion at any time while downloading.

The problem is a lack of dedicated seeds on their end.
