ah WoT and Robert Jordan
Well for the art it is done by Darrell K. Sweet, who also did the artwork for Jordan's romance novels. Both series were published by tor-forge.

Also, if you think that books 1 and 2 dragged on wait till you get to around book 8...
The payoff is worth it though. The 12th book (co-written by Brandon Sanderson) is the best book in the series so far, imho. He starts tying up loose plotlines from the word go. Jordan had a bad problem with dragging things on unnecessarily long, but thankfully Sanderson seems to be remedying that. Good thing too; it didn't seem like the series was ever going to end.
Well I did enjoy The Gathering Storm, personally I would not call it the best in the series. I tend to not like Brandon Sanderson writing style but, holding my full judgment till the next two books. I think its just the fact that it is just obvious to me its not Jordan writing it even though he is the one who came up with the ending. Have to give major credit on that point, telling the ending to his wife on his death bed. Imagine how bad it would have been if he hadn't, would never have gotten the real ending.
I actually feel Sanderson is making the last book drag on by breaking into 3 books. though that is not his choice only, Jordan's wife is part of that, helps that she been Jordan's editor from the beginning. It seems to be a recurring theme in fantasy series they do tend to have parts drag on.
I Will admit the series does tend to drag on but it seems to be a recurring theme in most of the book series, let alone Fantasy series. Hell looking at collection any of the books that were written as part of a series tend to drag on at one point or another. Terry Goodkind's Sword of Truth series is a prime example. I love that series also but it does drag on a bit at times.
