2 base damage isn't much at all. DRK's got screwed out of their 5-hit build. DRG keeps our standard 6-hit.

Who got owned now?

And Spiral Hell is just as bad, if not worse, as Wheeling Thrust in situations where multi-hit WS would be useless~

Even on non peircing it's better or very similar just because of the of critical hits. I was really sad Insurgency wasn't a 4 hit crit as well. I'm hoping this new scythe WS doesn't suck

I'm hoping to bring DRG,DRK and WAR to 80 myself personally I didn't mean to sound biased but hell it's kinda true. What makes DRK awsome is 5/5 Desperate Blows and 5/5 Diabolic Eye :Q

Edit: Spiral Hell... I'd rather use Spinning SLash :3

Rhongomiant:

Trial 1400
Required item: Oathkeeper

Kill Chesma 8 times (new Abyssea NM in Konsch/La Theine

Reward: Oathkeeper with dmg+14 (101 total)

Trial 1401?
Required item: Oathkeeper

Acquire 50, yes, 50! 2-Leaf Chloris Buds
I don't know what drops these yet, but I'm guessing the giant black Mandy in Abyssea.

Reward item: Rhongomiant.

That'd be ridiculous if that was the case.

In other news, OAT Polearm got shat upon this update. If things continue the way they are, Rhongomiant will pull ahead.

Also, completed Gungnir regained it's throne as top dog too.

With our new Empyreal Weapon and this gear, Drg can make a 4hit build :)

I'm also 1 trial away from my Rhongomiant, damn those 50 Chlorin buds no one can find ;-;

If you've followed the +DMG path on your Oathkeeper,
you will end up at Rhongomiant :)

Good luck to all you Dragoons out there striving for this!

I tried those mandies, and am currently 0/20, that dosnt mean they dont drop them, but it means its really low if they do, and I can confirm that the buds are not r/ex but they are simply just Exclusive.

Until it can be confirmed, I also have another guess.
Walk of Echoes.
Which would really *** suck since everything is free lot,
but I have seen several items for other trial weapons drop there.

But lets hope I'm wrong, and somebody finds these buds sooner and somewhere else.

BG .dat mining shows a mob called Chloris in Abyssea-Tahrongi.

Waiting on my cool-down to re-enter Abyssea so I dunno what the mandies are called. Is there an NM mandy called Chloris, or are all of them called that?

There were black mandies I was fighting in Abyssea Tahrongi, there name started with a P, don't really remember, then we spawned some Big effing black mandy, still nothing. Was a rough night.

I'll be jumping back in there and exploring the area to look for some Chloris.

What worries me is if "future updates" (next abyssea packs, etc) produce new weapons that are obtained from going the OTHER route (the Occ. Attacks twice), angering all of us that already put time into the Oathkeeper route. The way SE is, it almost makes me want to have both ready just in case...

Has anyone been able to confirm the Two-Leaf Chloris Bud's drop?
Rumour has it there's a VNM within abyssea and you need to buy the abyssite for an amount of cruor, then run out and spawn it.
Or by killing 2 other NMs, getting the pop items from them, and then spawning "Chloris".
If either are true, then we will all be getting relic before this thing ._.

Carabosse has been popped with 2 key items from other NMs. (Carabosse is the NM for Masamune).

So basically i assume this is the same. You farm normal mobs for a NM pop, then kill the NM for a key item. You need two key items to pop Carabosse.

The NM is the same name as the Item in question.

Chloris has been found in the DATs in Abyssea-Tahrongi.

These are the different NM pop points. (Taken from a post on BG)

NM Spawn Points:
=Tier 1=
#1 high-quality clionid wing
#2 moaning vestige
#3 eft egg, spawns Abas eft Nm
#4 alkaline humus, pawns Gancanagh mandy NM
#5 shocking whisker, spawns Tefenet coeurl NM
#6 baleful skull

=Tier 2=
#7 bloody fang, exorcised skull
#8 cockatrice tailmeat and quivering eft egg spawns Alectryon cockatrice NM
#9 venomous scorpion stinger, clump of acidic hummus, spawns Hedetat scorpion NM
#10 overgrown mandragora flower, chipped sandworm tooth
#11 resilient mane, smooth whisker
=Tier 3=

#12 bloodshot hecteye, shriveled wing, tarnished pincer
=Tier 4=

#13 veinous hecteyes eyelid, torn bat wing, gory scorpion claw, mossy adamantoise shell
#14 fat-lined cockatrice skin, sodden sandworm husk, luxuriant manticore mane, sticky gnat wing

Look at the one I bolded. That seems a likely candidate to pop Chloris. The flower has been found on the NM that drops Thew Bomblet. I have a feeling the Sandworm in Tahrongi drops the other key item :<

I got the resilient mane off a regular manticore, so maybe the chipped sandworm tooth is from a regular sandworm. 1 NM spawn drop, 1 regular spawndrop kind of pattern.

Resilient Mane isn't a key item--that pop set you're referencing is completely different. Both the mane and whisker are rare-tagged items. The rare-tagged triggers are regular drops from the associated family with a rather high drop rate, or can randomly be found in treasure caskets. Key items drop from NMs, such as the overgrown flower and the sandworm tooth, and are used to pop other NMs (tiered system, like most of FFXI).

Chipped Sandworm Tooth likely comes from Minhocao, as opposed to Glavoid (there are two NM Sandworms in Abyssea-Tahrongi, Glavoid being the one that drops ex items for Empyrean dagger and the key item Sandworm Husk for another ??? pop, and is required to defeat for the Tahrongi quest).

To sum it up, kill Pachypodiums for a humus trigger, pop Gancanagh and kill it. If it doesn't give you the key item "Overgrown Mandragora Flower," farm more humus and keep popping the NM until you get it. Then kill Minhocao (timed pop NM) until you get the key item from that.

Then you can pop Chloris with the two key items, which of course will be used up. Expect to take 25-50 weeks to finish the trial (really, if the drop rate is anything like VNM T3 drops, I'd say it's about 1.75 drops average with a THF), assuming your LS dedicates 7 stones a week to your weapon and manages to get both key items and defeats Chloris once a week (which is really hoping for much, because you have to wait on Minhocao's repop, which is unknown as far as I know (less than 48 hours for sure)). If your LS can't/doesn't want to go through that effort once a week or wants to spend their limited Abyssea time doing something else, expect to take over a year.

Luckily, the Minhocao and Gancanagh could be killed with a skilled party of six or less, but would however be time consuming. Carabosse took 15 to kill, however, so I'd expect Chloris to be somewhat similar in terms of difficulty. You could take your own set to get the key items, then ask your LS to kill Chloris for you.

But saying you are intending to upgrade a Rhongomiant is like saying you are upgrading a relic/mythic. Realize that these aren't going to be any easier, and are probably going to get harder the more trials are released. If you don't plan on reaching the final stage in the very, very end, you may want to eventually look for another weapon, because by the next upcoming updates, Oathkeeper itself will probably get outdated by other drops/trial weapons. Kartika (DMG dagger, right before Empyrean dagger) is trash now (not that it was even that great before, but other dagger trials keep getting better and are easier to do, whereas Kartika got better but is much harder to do), and some of the weapons that drop from Abyssean NMs (Plaga scythe, Seige bow, Vermeil Bhuj) make the DMG line of Magian weapons unworthwhile unless you truly intend to complete the weapon.

To put it in perspective, it'll end up being like if you went through the hassle of getting a fourth stage relic weapon or a statless Mythic weapon without finishing it. Other weapons would do you better, and be a lot easier to get.

The main site for Visions of Abyssea state that we will be able to upgrade our Empyrean Weapons through Magian Trials and 'other systems' via future updates.

My guess is that they will have higher level 'tiers' of the weapon through trials and other means in Abyssea - with better stats the more you take it up, probably leading to some ultimate stats and a special Weapon Skill that has after effects out the wazoo.

Best weapon of the game? Maybe, maybe not. We'll see.

As soon as I heard what was required to get the Empyrean Weapon, I halted my Nobilis. Picked up Machaera and going from there, hoping for the best.
