In a staggering display of generosity, my employer actually gave us all off for Friday for free, thereby saving the 75% of the people here who were burning paid time off to stay home one of their vacation days.

This time it's finally over.

Truly I only came back because of the discount to seekers just to see the zones and to get rid of refreshtwo name and make it refreshazure is now my universal alias if you wish to find me on the Internet.

(Refreshtwo drove me insane as I lost my original name refresh)

With that I achieve closure there are too many things to do in life to continue being distracted by video games I have changed the Square enix account to someone's email who I cannot get a hold of now and terminated the account I will also be destroying my back ups and switch my passwords that have parts of my 8 digit pol code in them.

I have deleted all my old posts about over 900 of them except the really funny ones that people up voted such as the Star Wars sequel and the reaction to red mage never getting anything again.

I was debating just hiding this post in the anime-suggesting topic but I think it's for the best that people see it as maybe they will be able to move on but that is up to their decision not mind.

And I know some of you can't live without my Anti-theism/Socialism rants I am still out there if you wish to find me rational person or insane creationists republican who needs to be smacked down.

And the classics ones

So, let's summarize Rammie's Christmas:

- Christmas Eve is still Chinese Wednesday, so pickup some Chinese food on the way home from half-day at work; pleasant toned-down present exchange with the with the wife, some tasty holiday sangria, generally a pleasant Christmas Eve-ning.

- Christmas Day, wife with migraine + additional illness, stepfather sick, uncle sick, cousin + his daughter sick, nobody gets together for Christmas, spend all day playing video games and trying not to disturb understandably cranky wife.

- Saturday, wife on migraine day 3, take trip alone to drive back to hometown to deliver presents, cousin + his daughter still sick so they don't go, stop to deliver presents to their household on the way back from hometown, get speeding ticket, drive the rest of the way home annoyingly slow at arbitrarily set speed limit because you don't want to even think about risking being that guy who got two speeding tickets in one day. Get home, wife feeling a bit better, is amused at your speeding ticket because how did you get to 32 without getting one ever before, what with your case of congenital lead foot?

- Sunday, football, more video games

- Monday: 2.5 Day Work Week Part II begins.

Hope the New Year goes better than Christmas, beacuse while it wasn't awful, I could do with a bit more actual holiday cheer before setting into that dreadful January-April stretch.

the days off treated me fairly well, & I intend to share some pictures, but not right now, as my body hurts all over & the men are incontinent.

Say what you want about the tenets of national socialism, at least it's an ethos.

There, I got my TBL quote in.

I get all this week off, so I'm happy as a clam on Friday.

Nothing worse than being sick on a holiday or a vacation.

Let's see...

Christmas Eve: The big sweetman's mom, my mom and I went on a sloppy baking and cooking bonanza (Mom with Riesling, me with the Cab-Sav, while visions of sugar plums danced in our heads.), which the sweetest boy somewhat indulged in the cookie decorating part to the best of his ability. Can't expect culinary perfection and dexterous sprinklage from a nearly-two-year-old.

We had a few college and work buddies over to enjoy. Kiddo clutter fantastico was made.

Christmas Day: Duck, spiral ham...Basically, more cooking until about 3:00 PM, and that's on top of the super breakfast with us trotting off to Christmas Day services. (I was so hungover in church. Not the first time that has happened, and probably won't be the last.)

Boxing Day: Sloppy bun, hoodie and yoga pants for me, free-ballin'-drawstring shorts and hoodie for the beau Day until the evening when we made the rounds with our buddies who are in town or that we haven't seen in a while.

Shopping with Mom and recovering over the weekend. The guys went hunting. Came up unsuccessful.

It was a good one. I am quite pleased, considering Thanksgiving. Roll on, 2015!!!

You're allowed to not go. Just say like 40 Hail Marys. It evens out, or so I've always been led to believe.

Yeah, I know. LOL! I actually like the liturgical Christmas services though. It reminds me of Christmas with my mom's side of the family, and it makes my mom happy.

Yeah; for our first ~6 years or so together my wife and I always went to Christmas services at her mom's Methodist church. Neither of us is much of a believer, but we're musicians and was frequently asked to perform with various groups for services (bells, playing trumpet, w/e) and most of the time when you get a chance to play, you do. Not a lot of call for drummers at Christmas time, though.

That said, despite constantly rolling my eyes at the religious claptrap, the music itself is always nice. Say what you will about the Catholic church otherwise through the years, but they certainly had enough great composers in their pocket through the centuries. I've always been partial to Verdi, but Handel's Messiah is nice at Christmas. And their particular church had great acoustics.

I think that's what really does it for me. The instrumentals and the choir. I can't carry a tune in a bucket, but I will gleefully indulge in 'Hark! The Herald!' or 'Silent Night'.

EDIT: I know it's weird, but there's something weirdly satisfying about taking Communion on Christmas too. I have no understanding of why I think that. I think it's calming in some ways.

DOUBLE EDIT: The tradition of it, I guess? Knowing that this is something that your family has done for ages? I really love Christmas in Germany just for the churches themselves. We have Christening, burial and marriage records going back to the 1700's in a church that we go to in the Marktplatz in Wiesbaden.

I'm sure more than one person around the forum would raise an eyebrow at my appreciation for church traditions, art, and history despite my disbelief of the supernatural related to them.

But to me it's just like Greek, Roman, Norse, Celtic, or various other mythologies. There's a lot of great art, culture, music, history, etc. Especially when you get into a lot of the early pre-reformation stuff and older, as well as the pre-reformation spin-offs; just the amount of Catholic sects out there that the Roman Catholic Church doesn't encompass is pretty huge.

Well that's the point of it, really. Whether you believe or not, there is comfort in the familiar, in the routine, in a shared tradition or act. I have to fight to repress the responses to the cues whenever I attend a Catholic wedding or funeral just because I was raised in that environment and the responses just...come to you completely unbidden.

Ugh...Catholic weddings. Have you been to one where the ceremony is in both Spanish and English yet? Blah! That requires pre-drinking.

Beautiful pics, Mos!

We got Lukas these for Christmas:

They were the big hits for him. I have no clue what to get him for his birthday as of now. That kid raked it in with Duplos this year and a bunch of other odds and ends that will probably end up as a minefield.

I think we're getting a little ahead of ourselves as far as age parameters, but whatever.

Happy birthday, Mini-Mos!
