From my home state of Ohio i'm pleased to introduce you to this group.

E. 1999 Eternal is the second studio album by American hip hop group Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, released July 25, 1995, on Ruthless Records. The album was released four months after the death of rapper Eazy-E, the group's mentor and the executive producer of the album. Both the album and single "Tha Crossroads" are dedicated to him. The song was a smash hit worldwide and reached the top of the Billboard Hot 100. It has been certified 2x platinum in the United States.

"Tha Crossroads" moved so quickly up the charts after its release in May 1996 that it ranked with the legendary success of the Beatles' "Can't Buy Me Love" and Whitney Houston's "I Will Always Love You".

In 2008, "Tha Crossroads" was ranked number 33 on VH1's 100 Greatest Songs of Hip Hop. Following up on the surprise success of their breakthrough single "Thuggish Ruggish Bone", it became a popular album and received positive reviews from music critics, earning praise for the group's melodic rapping style. The album title is a portmanteau of the then-future year 1999 and Cleveland's east side neighborhood centering around East 99th Street and St. Clair Avenue where the group is based from.

E. 1999 Eternal became the group's best-selling album, with over 6 million copies sold in the United States and 10 million worldwide. It topped the US Billboard 200 for two consecutive weeks. The album was nominated for the inaugural Grammy Award for Best Rap Album, ultimately losing to Naughty by Nature's Poverty's Paradise at the 1996 Grammy Awards.

T. Rex were an English rock band, formed in 1967 by singer-songwriter and guitarist Marc Bolan. The band formed as Tyrannosaurus Rex, releasing four underground acoustic albums under the name. Tony Visconti (their producer for several albums) claimed in a documentary on the band that he had taken to using the abbreviated term "T. Rex" as a shorthand, something that initially irritated Bolan, who gradually came around to the idea and officially shortened the band's name to "T. Rex" at roughly the same time they started having big hits (shortly after going electric).

In the early to mid 1970s, the band reached huge success with fourteen top-20 UK glam rock hits: "Jeepster", "Get It On", "Ride a White Swan", "Solid Gold Easy Action", "Children of the Revolution", "Hot Love", "Telegram Sam", "20th Century Boy", "Debora", "Teenage Dream", "The Groover", "New York City", "I Love To Boogie" and "Metal Guru". During this period the band also released six UK top-30 albums, including Electric Warrior, which hit the top of the album charts. In 1977, Bolan was killed in a car accident, and the band broke up.

Avenged Sevenfold (sometimes abbreviated as A7X) is an American heavy metal band from Huntington Beach, California, formed in 1999. The band's members are lead vocalist M. Shadows, rhythm guitarist and backing vocalist Zacky Vengeance, lead guitarist and backing vocalist Synyster Gates, bass guitarist Johnny Christ and drummer Arin Ilejay.

They are known for their diverse rock sound and dramatic imagery in album covers and merchandise. Avenged Sevenfold emerged with a metalcore sound on their debut Sounding the Seventh Trumpet but their style had evolved by their third album and first major label release, City of Evil, into a heavy metal/hard rock sound. The band continued to explore new sounds with their self-titled release and enjoyed continued mainstream success before their drummer, James "The Rev" Sullivan, died in 2009. Despite his death, the band continued on with help of now-former Dream Theater drummer Mike Portnoy and released and toured in support of their fifth album Nightmare in 2010 which debuted on the top spot of the Billboard 200, their first number one debut.

Their latest record Hail to the King released in 2013 marks the album debut of new drummer Arin Ilejay. Hail to the King charted as #1 on the US Billboard 200, the UK albums chart, as well as the Finnish, Brazilian, Canadian, and Irish charts.

To date, Avenged Sevenfold has released six studio albums, one live album/compilation/DVD, and eighteen singles and have sold over 3 million albums in the US

David Bowie (/ˈboʊ.i/;[1] born David Robert Jones, 8 January 1947) is an English singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, record producer, arranger, and actor. He is also a painter and collector of fine art.[2] Bowie has been a major figure in the world of popular music for over four decades, and is renowned as an innovator, particularly for his work in the 1970s. He is known for his distinctive baritone voice as well as the intellectual depth and eclecticism of his work. Aside from his musical abilities, he is recognised for his androgynous beauty, which was an iconic element to his image, particularly in the 1970s and 1980s.[3][4]

Bowie first caught the eye and ear of the public in July 1969 when his song "Space Oddity" reached the top five of the UK Singles Chart. After a three-year period of experimentation he re-emerged in 1972 during the glam rock era with the flamboyant, androgynous alter ego Ziggy Stardust, spearheaded by the hit single "Starman" and the album The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars. Bowie's impact at that time, as described by biographer David Buckley, "challenged the core belief of the rock music of its day" and "created perhaps the biggest cult in popular culture."[5] The relatively short-lived Ziggy persona proved merely one facet of a career marked by continual reinvention, musical innovation and striking visual presentation.

In 1975, Bowie achieved his first major American crossover success with the number-one single "Fame" and the hit album Young Americans, which the singer characterised as "plastic soul". The sound constituted a radical shift in style that initially alienated many of his UK devotees. He then confounded the expectations of both his record label and his American audiences by recording the minimalist album Low (1977)—the first of three collaborations with Brian Eno over the next two years.

Low, "Heroes", and Lodger, the so-called "Berlin Trilogy" albums, all reached the UK top five and received lasting critical praise. After uneven commercial success in the late 1970s, Bowie had UK number ones with the 1980 single "Ashes to Ashes", its parent album Scary Monsters (and Super Creeps), and "Under Pressure", a 1981 collaboration with Queen. He then reached a new commercial peak in 1983 with Let's Dance, which yielded several hit singles. Throughout the 1990s and 2000s, Bowie continued to experiment with musical styles, including blue-eyed soul, industrial, adult contemporary, and jungle. He has not toured since the 2003–04 Reality Tour and has not performed live since 2006. Bowie's latest studio album The Next Day was released in March 2013.

David Buckley says of Bowie: "His influence has been unique in popular culture—he has permeated and altered more lives than any comparable figure." In the BBC's 2002 poll of the 100 Greatest Britons, Bowie was placed at number 29. Throughout his career, he has sold an estimated 140 million albums.

Good grillin' music. Grab a double Jim and Coke and fire up the grill, listen through twice and by the time you're done you're ready to eat some delicious grub. The Blues Brothers were always a comedy gig but hidden in that comedy was a backing band of real quality rhythm, blues, and rock musicians and Belushi rarely did anything he didn't put all of himself into.

If you like Diplo you'll like this. The album is considered Electronic but I would describe it as Electronic Dancehall. You wanna twerk? There's a song for you. You wanna dutty wine? There's a song for you. You wanna slow jam? There's a song for you. You wanna chill? There's a song for you. As a Torontonian it is the perfect album for both Pride and Caribana.

Candle in the Wind/Goodbye England's Rose did get pretty obnoxious. Funeral for a Friend was the intro to the album.

Not the same album but Crocodile Rock renditions were great for annoying the madre.

I still only do CDs, so I pretty much listen to nothing but albums over and over again (like literally; I'll have the same CD in my car for months on end). If I had to choose one, it would probably be Dark Side of the Moon by Pink Floyd.

Not only does this album have an amazing tracklist, it was crafted with painstaking precision to make it a flawless album from beginning to end, a trend Pink Floyd is well known for doing. Each album tells a full on story from beginning to end, and it's almost insulting to take one of the songs out of context.

Dark Side of the Moon is a definite finalist if you make me pick greast/most influential album of all time, because for over 40 years now people have been hearing it for the first time and been blown away. You've got a solid three generations now that have rooted around in their parents (or even, ugh, grandparents) music and said "oh, what's this?" and subsequently had their musical horizons irrevocably broadened exponentially.

It's a good album in and of itself, but it's really the feeling of discovery and branching out into more music -- and new ways of looking at music -- which it inspires that is really what's so great about it.

Or, in the words of Doctor Thaddeus Venture,

Quote:
Oh, my God, it’s side two of Dark Side of the Moon! He’s in a Floyd hole! Fill the tub up with ice, now!

HUGE Zep fan. Physical Graffiti is one of my favorite albums of all time.

Sides one and two are possibly my favorite collection of concentrated great music in one place ever. (Rivaled by Metallica's Master of Puppets); In My Time of Dying is hands down one of my favorite songs to play (as in, listen to OR actually play [I'm a drummer]).

That said, sides three and four get a little out there and I don't know if I'd consider them good "jam" material. But I may be misinterpeting how or what others considering "jam" albums.

Very good album, but it's very homogenous. Songs are great individually, but as an album it all blends together (to me).

I really like individual Deftones songs, but listening to an entire album can get a little tedious for me. Chino's writing can get a bit hit-and-miss.
