Honestly not really sure what Nintendo is trying to do other than sell to all the fanboys who will buy anything they put out anyway (kinda like Apple).
This was my conclusion, they're testing to see if they can remain profitable solely by milking their loyalist demographic. $70 controllers is extortionary, and if you think you'll just use the Joy-cons, then you'll at least need that $30 charging grip because the one that comes with the base unit doesn't charge.

I'm honestly surprised they aren't asking $70 for games, yet I'm sure it will come to that. 1-2 Switch is effectively what should have been a pack-in tech demo that they're charging $50 for.

Rather than learning from the mistakes of the Wii U, especially it being too expensive, it seems they're doubling down on the proposition, almost like they're expecting it to fail so they think they'll make up for it with exorbitant profit margins. It's a self-fulfilling prophecy

The thing that disappoints me most is that I have zero interest in switch being a mobile gaming system...zero.

And yet that for some people is seen as a positive.

But the vita provides a lifetime of disappointment.

Vita sucks if you wanted "new" games cause I can't think of one vita exclusive game I liked.

But as a retro gaming console it's epic it has access to a lot of really good Ps one/PSP games also on top of that if you brought all the free games on ps plus for like the last 3 years there are a ton of decent indy games to choose from.

I can see why a lot of people don't like it but when I'm traveling playing say breath of fire, FF tactics or binding of isaac is so much more fun than candy crush.

On topic; Remove the screen(so it's like a normal console) -$100 and i'd buy it also $70 for a ported 360 controller lmao least sony put a touch pad on there controller.

That said, I reckon the switch will be massive in the Japanese market considering mobile gaming is a lot bigger there it really feels that it has been designed with that in mind.

Those specs are better than the PS3 and almost as good as the base Xbox One.... FF11 and FF14 could run great on this system on the Go or TV.

The ff14 expansion comes out on June 20th after E3.

Don't dash the hopes of "some special people" so quickly.

It's fun to watch their anticipation go up, higher and higher (somewhat fed by you, or in this case, me, of course), only to see it all crash down when it doesn't happen.

With the biggest ***-eating smirk you can muster.

XIV is a possibility. Switch has 6x the RAM available to games vs. PS3 and a much more modern GPU architecture. So i'd expect it to graphically be a laptop level graphics at 720p

XI is probably just too expensive to port unless they get the windows version running on it.

Switch is doing really well ATM and with MONHUN XX announced for it last week, it will be the defacto games machine in Japan for the forseeable future. There will be a big pull for SE to put content on it for the JPN market and XIV on handheld mode would be too good to pass up, even if its just people with PS4 ver. double dipping.

Will never hit production, not worth the money for a port.

I could see a fan made creation running ffxi on a device similar size to the switch, though. If an enthusiast with solder equipment and a 3d printer really wanted, I'm sure there are some miniature components capable of running windows/ffxi. Windower and Ashita already have the interface needed to design your own control scheme.

Wouldn't be a small project, though.

Since Dragon Quest X the MMORPG game from the Wii days(2012 is being ported to the Nintendo Switch, I'm pretty sure FF11/14 can also.

They even have this cool keyboard joy-con attachment:
