Economically speaking, copper would an even better choice as copper prices has been generally on the rise whereas gold and silver prices haven't been doing all that well. A push for new construction will possibly see the price go even higher. If we are to begin repairing our infrastructure, surely copper is a safe choice. (I tried...)

This is a politics and religion thread. Not a jump on each other's throats thread.

So basically don't do the latter and you're golden.
Yeah, that's what Puppetmaster threads are for!

Speaking of, do we have any proof that something similar isn't what happened to Chaos?

I'm actually genuinely concerned for him.

Wait, wait, wait.

*burps*

Okay, it wasn't genuine concern, it was just gas.

But I'm still curious.

Because it's common knowledge that the 1% wealth owners pay 45.7% of all federal taxes. They own 35% of all US wealth (according to you), but they pay 45.7% of all federal taxes, according to multiple sources (IRS included).

That's not how it works and you know it. You are being taxed on your income and not your wealth.
I didn't say that they were. You are either misinterpreting what I stated or just being obtuse to make a snark comment (or set one up for somebody else to make).

His news come from 2012, when copper prices were skyrocketing at the time.

Don't blame the slowpoke for being slow.

Well I'm trying to curtail our numbers so the lizard men have as easy a path to victory as possible, so I guess I'm pro-abortion. Also pro-birth control, pro-hysterectomies, pro-vasectomies, pro-Plan B, and anti-***-for-Jesus/Allah.

This is a mathematical fallacy and makes no sense.

How? I don't see how its a mathematical fallacy at all, nor how it doesn't make sense. You can explain.

You said that the top 1% that owns 35% of the wealth should pay 35% of the taxes. For starters, you don't pay taxes on wealth. If we backtrack and assume you mean income, not only would the numbers be different you seem to suggest that the share of taxes should be 1:1 proportional to the share of income, and the only realistic way to do that would be a flat tax rate for everyone and I kinda doubt that's what you were going for. As it stands, your argument doesn't make sense.

I assumed that he means the quantitative aspect of wealth (the top 1% of people who holds the most wealth) and quantified it by stating how much they hold (which is to say, 35%).

His mistake is that he used that group's average tax rate (24.7%) to declare unfairness, which in turn shows that that group has more investment income (dividends, capital investments, etc.) that is taxed at a lower rate (23.8%) than ordinary rate (as much as 43.4%).

I could also throw a monkey wrench in the works and address AMT, but I believe that would go way above his head.

well as a man, I will never have to make that decision... unless some super progressive liberal scientists develop some sort of ray gun that....

and as a conservative I can't think of anyone worse to make that decision for others... than the federal government...

But I think as a society we can come to some sort of an agreement... killing babies that can survive outside the womb is pretty horror show and condoms/day after pills are no problemo

the sticky wicket is the how many weeks is too many...

while we are deciding someone develop an app that detects pregnancy at the moment of conception.

So what did you mean?
He defined a group of people based on the total wealth they owned. He went onward to address their average tax rate assuming that's the total % of their wealth they paid.

I stated that they paid almost half of all federal taxes in a year.

You should be going after him for making such an easy mistake, not me. But you seem to like to attack my points (and only my points, nobody else's) constantly for some reason.....
