Anti-virus targets ffxi.dll as trojan
Tonight Norton 360 quarantined ffxi.dll as a Trojan and malware. Is this happening to anyone else? Or is Norton being overprotective again.
My anti-virus did this too today.

Mine just completely removed it. Just ran a file check/repair and set exceptions to ignore it.
Should I be worried then...or not.
Makes me wonder what was in the previous update that made this potential false-positive come up through multiple anti-viruses?

hmm 2 of my accounts have just been blocked worried to log other 3 off atm, any clues on whats going on or how to fix this ?
You have to replace your ffxi.dll, mine keeps deleting it so I turned it off.
as in do a full reinstall?
Or if you have the ffxi.dll file somewhere else? I copied and pasted mine from my laptop to PC.
we play on 5 laptops so not really sure how to do that
Go to one of them that you are able to log in, go into the ffxi folder copy the ffxi.dll and paste in the one that isn't working. You can connect them to a network to share files.
Why not just file check with POL?
Sometimes it deletes it, sometimes its still there but obviously not working because the game pops up with a error msg when it tries to boot up.
I did check file, got mine back with turning Antivirus off, will have to try drays way for her
I basically just had Norton restore it and exempt it from scans in the future on both laptop and desktop... strangely it only did this after updating... after Norton Utilities came up with an error that they're aware of and are working on... so it may just be a temp bug right now. I also submitted the file to Norton before restoring it >.>

This is happening if you digitally bought this via steam or Amazon. It does not fully install the game. This just happened to me cause I got seekers via digital download.
I was logged in this morning and logged out properly. When I tried logging in to the game it gave me ffxi .dll error couldn't find file's. I don't know how untrue that is when I knowingly got seekers via digital download when it came out

I'll be honest I am no tech wiz . I am just saying in my opinion that may be the error don't take it as word of gospel. This is what happened to me it may be different for others .
